    What is the best way to clean/care a mount?????

    I have been asked to show a Deer mount of mine and want to clean it up!!!!!!!

    P.S. Iam not in the Taxidermy business......I just "Shoot" them

    i have a hunting DVD (primetime bucks 9) and Cally Morris did a little segment on that and he took odorless pain thinner and just wiped the deers hair in the direction the hair lays with the a damp paper towel with thinner on it and kept wiping with new pieces of paper towel until the paper towel stayed clean and then Windex on the glass eyes

    i use Windex for the whole deer, i spray it on a towel or rag then wipe down my deer. it shines them up

    When I attended taxidermy school we were told to knock the dust off with a feather duster for regular cleaning. And when the mounts need a good cleaning - mist a paper towel with Windex and wipe down the entire mount in the direction the hair lays, follow that with a second paper towel misted with Liquid Gold Furniture Polish and wipe down the entire mount in the direction the hair lays again. It cleans the mount really well and returns a sheen to the hair and does not attract dust - I still use this method 8 years later and it's worked well for me.
